In 2007, Goya Robles had a desire to help visual and performing artists have a platform to express themselves and live off of their work. By pairing up the painter and poet to create new original pieces of work, PAINT THE MIC was born.
Our first PTM event happened at a former cafe called La Pregunta Cafe on 135th Street and Amsterdam in Harlem, New York. Between the visual display of artwork on the walls and the heartfelt words and sounds moving everyone in the room, we knew we had something special.
Years later, PAINT THE MIC has evolved into a platform where artists can use their creative work and craft to impact the world around them. We collaborate with local non-profit agencies, creating pathways for our artists to use their craft as a way to help these organizations go the extra mile in fulfilling their mission statement.
